Epee Jacob Plauth from Frankfurt
Elegant court or officer’s small sword with a slender, straight blade featuring fine decorative etching. The gilt brass hilt has a shell-shaped guard with a simple knuckle bow, a wire-wrapped grip, and a vase-shaped pommel. The blade spine bears the inscription “Jacob Plauth, sword cutler from Frankfurt.” The sword is classified as a German dress or court small sword dating from the late 18th to early 19th century.
