Bronze statue of a standing bear
Kasli Ironworks, after the model by Nikolai Lieberich, 1896
Finely cast iron figure of a standing bear on a naturalistic hexagonal base, depicting the animal rearing upright beside a tree trunk. The front of the base bears an additional plaque inscribed in Russian: “Killed by the Emperor near Lisina, 9 March 1865.” The piece is signed on the base.
This impressive example reflects the masterful craftsmanship of the Kasli Foundry, known for its precise detail and rich surface texture. Based on Lieberich’s celebrated model, it captures both the wild vitality and dignified stillness of the bear with remarkable realism.
Height: approximately 57 cm (depending on measuring point, c. 56.5–57 cm).
