“Wounded stag” Louis Vidal, 19. Jahrhundert.

“Wounded stag” Louis Vidal, 19. Jahrhundert.

The sculpture depicts a powerful stag in dynamic motion, shown with its head raised and mouth open as if in mid-call. Its body is tense, the legs in motion, and the wide-spreading antlers emphasize the animal’s imposing presence. The detailed rendering of musculature and fur gives the figure a vivid and naturalistic appearance. The stag stands on an oval, naturally formed base, enhancing the impression of a scene set in the wild.

The bronze is by Louis Vidal from the 19th century and is a typical example of animal sculptures of that period, characterized by dynamism, realism, and expressive strength.
