Adolphe Martial Thabard (French, 1831-1905), The Young Falconer

Adolphe Martial Thabard (1831–1905), French sculptor. Bronze figure depicting a young boy holding a falcon aloft on his raised left hand, titled The Young Falconer. Signed on the circular base. Early 20th century.

Thabard initially studied medicine and attended anatomy classes extensively, which informed his refined understanding of the human form. This knowledge is evident in his carefully modeled figures, which were widely appreciated and reproduced by various porcelain manufacturers. A fine example of French bronze sculpture in the tradition of naturalistic figural art.
