Circa 1920. Bronze with a dark patina. Signed on the top “B. BUTZKE” and with a lateral foundry mark “BILDGIESSEREI KRAAS BERLIN.” Patina slightly rubbed in places. Figure: height 57 cm; veined marble base (minimally chipped): height 4 cm. – Berlin sculptor, trained at the Berlin Porcelain Manufactory and the teaching institute of the Berlin Museum of Applied Arts. Active at KPM from 1893 to 1900, and in 1922–23 for the Schwarzburg Workshops, as well as working as an independent sculptor in Berlin.
