Diana the Huntress, bronze after J. A. Houdon, France, circa 1870.

Diana the Huntress, after Jean-Antoine Houdon (1741–1828). France, circa 1870. Bronze with a rich dark patina, depicting the classical goddess Diana in a graceful contrapposto pose, holding a bow and arrow. The figure is rendered with refined naturalism, emphasizing the idealized proportions and smooth modeling characteristic of Houdon’s neoclassical style. The elegant stance, with one foot slightly raised, conveys lightness and movement. Mounted on a circular base. A fine 19th-century cast after the celebrated model.
